Katherine Bucknell was born in Saigon in 1957 and grew up in Washington D.C. She has degrees from Princeton, Oxford, and Columbia Universities and lives in London with her husband, Bob Maguire, and their three children.
She is the editor of W.H. Auden's Juvenilia: Poems 1922-1928 and four volumes of diaries by Christopher Isherwood: Diaries Volume One: 1939-1960; Lost Years: A Memoir 1945-1961; Diaries Volume Two: The Sixties 1960-1969 (October 2010); and Diaries Volume Three: Liberation 1970-1983 (May 2012). She is a co-editor of Auden Studies and a founder of The W.H. Auden Society.
Her essays on literature and other subjects have appeared in various collections, and she has contributed to journals, newspapers, TV, radio and film.
Her first novel, Canarino, was published in 2004, followed by Leninsky Prospekt in 2005. Her most recent novel, What You Will, appeared in 2007.
